Pilot : a Language for Planning

This paper describes a new language, called PILOT, to teleoperatemobile robots. All the primitives of the language are shown and explained. Some few words explain the control architecture associated to this language and the hardware of the robot used to test it. An example of mission is then shown, to bring to the fore how actions are described in the control architecture and how primitives of the language could be used. 1. INTRODUCTION The automation laboratory of ENSIETA 1 and the research team "Languages and Interfaces for Intelligent Machines (LIMI)" of the University of Brest 2 are working closely in the eld of tele-robotics. They try to develop and improve new technologies for the speciication and the realization of missions for teleoperated robots. This work is done in relation with the French oceanographi-cal institute (IFREMER) which is building an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) for submarine explorations (V. Rigaud et al., 1994).
